Christine GeraghtyChristine Geraghty is Chair of Film and Television Studies in the Department of Theatre, Film and Television Studies at University of Glasgow. Before becoming a full time academic in 1993, she had taught film part time for many years, whilst pursuing a career as a trade unionist, both experiences which come in useful now. She is the author of a number of books and articles on film and television, most recently British Cinema in the Fifties: Gender, Genre and the 'New Look' and is working on a study of My Beautiful Laundrette. She has been on the Executive Committee for the past three years and is currently the outgoing Chairperson of MeCCSA (new Chair to be elected in February 2010).
