Overview
Christine Geraghty
Christine Geraghty is Chair of Film and Television Studies
in the Department of Theatre, Film and Television Studies
at University of Glasgow. Before becoming a full time academic
in 1993, she had taught film part time for many years, whilst
pursuing a career as a trade unionist, both experiences which
come in useful now. She is the author of a number of books
and articles on film and television, most recently British
Cinema in the Fifties: Gender, Genre and the 'New Look' and
is working on a study of My Beautiful Laundrette. She has
been on the Executive Committee for the past three years and
is currently Chairperson of MeCCSA.
