 Helen was part of the Media Studies team at the University of Westminster. She has acted as Visiting Professor in the School of Arts, Design and Media at Sunderland and as Visiting Academic in the School of Communication, Cultural and Media Studies at Middlesex. She currently specialises in providing research consulting and external evaluations for clients engaged in education and the cultural and creative industries.
Working at local, national and international levels, she has produced reports on skills training and regional media education for a range of clients including HEFCE, NESTA and the UK Film Council. She recently worked with BOP Consulting on a review of 'A Bigger Future', the UK Film Skills Strategy, providing an assessment of the implementation, delivery, impact and outcomes of the strategy and identifying opportunities and priorities for future development.
Helen serves as the MeCCSA representative on Skillset's Higher Education Advisory Group developing the Creative and Media Diploma. She is on the Board of Women in Film and Television.
