New Media and (New) Media Studies will be held on Friday 21st November 2008 at Lancaster University.

The event will bring together postgraduate students involved in the Higher Education teaching of Media and Cultural studies to share experiences, develop collaborative exchanges and face the unique issues and concerns affecting postgraduate tutors within the field. The event is hosted by the Institute for Cultural Research at Lancaster University and the Art-Design-Media Subject Centre of the Higher Education Academy and supported by the Media, Communication and Cultural Studies (MeCCSA) Postgraduate Network.

The symposium will include roundtable and panel sessions on teaching Media and Cultural Studies, talks on the activities of University and College Union and Higher Education Academy Art-Design-Media Subject Centre, and practice focused workshop sessions. Participating members of the ICR and Lancaster University will include Dr Charlie Gere, Dr Bruce Bennett and Dr Scott Wilson.

Postgraduate student participants are welcome to contribute position papers that will be made available on the event website and will be used to generate discussion in panel, workshop and roundtable sessions. There will be opportunities for participants to co-chair sessions and present their papers in sessions. Please see the Participation page for details.
