BFI governor – urgent invitation
Dear MeCCSA member,
If anyone in the MeCCSA community is also a BFI Member etc., they will by now have received in the post a ‘flyer’ inviting the nomination of candidates for a Members’ Representative seat on the Board of Governors. To be eligible for this seat, you must be based outside London / SE England (for definition of this area see the BFI website). The closing date for receipt of nominations is Friday 7th October at 12 Noon. Complete nominations should be sent to: member.election@bfi.org.uk
At a time of considerable change for the BFI, and when its academic membership urgently needs strong representation, this is an important opportunity. It is vital to maintain a balance on a BFI Board which could easily become dominated by industry representatives (especially since the British Film Institute inherited the UK Film Council’s responsibilities) and we need to have academic representation there. The issue of the proposed changes to the BFI’s library services was raised at the last MeCCSA AGM, and remains an issue of concern to members.
You can nominate yourself as well as others.
